1. What is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement windshield and why is it important?An OEM replacement windshield is a windshield produced from original equipment specifications. This type of windshield will have the same appearance to your car's original windshield and will fit properly, making noise and leakage problems less likely.
2. What's the difference between glass in a windshield and other window glass?Auto glass is designed and manufactured for optimum safety in the event of a crash. Your windshield is made of laminated safety glass. This glass is designed with two pieces of glass with a layer of vinyl sandwiched between them for safety. The side and rear windows are made of tempered glass in most cases. Tempered glass has been treated, making it much stronger than other glass of the same thickness. If it breaks, it is designed to shatter into small pieces as a safety precaution.
3. Does my windshield really protect me?Yes. Your windshield was designed as the number one safety restraint system in your vehicle. Your windshield provides significant roof crush protection in a rollover accident. It also provides a “backstop” for your passenger-side airbag in the event of a collision. If your windshield pops out in a collision or rollover, you could be ejected or crushed. It's important to know Arizona Glass Solutions uses Essex (Dow) adhesives in every installation. This adhesive is used in 90% of the cars that roll off the assembly line.
4. What kind of warranty should I expect?Arizona Glass Solutions gives you a written Lifetime Guarantee that warrants against leakage, defects, and moulding retention. You will also receive written proof that a certified installer has replaced your windshield with “OE” quality glass.
5. How long will it take to repair/replace my windshield?To repair a small crack or ding (without replacing the entire windshield) it takes about 30 minutes. In most cases, a complete install will take approximately 1 1/2 hours. The length of service may vary for other auto glass parts, the weather conditions, and the type of vehicle. 6. How soon can I drive my car after my glass is replaced?As with all urethanes, our Essex (Dow) adhesives rely on temperature and humidity to cure. This time frame can range from 2 hours up to 24 hours before your vehicle will meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and is considered safe to drive. If you need to drive your vehicle sooner, a chemically cured urethane can be used that will allow a 1 hour drive-away time. In either case, it's imperative that you follow our post care instructions regarding safe drive-away times. Those will be clearly communicated by our technicians at the time of your installation.
7. It's only a small crack. Can I wait to have it repaired?No. You shouldn't delay. The windshield is an important structural element of your car. If it becomes weakened due to road debris, it will not provide optimal protection in an accident. Many small chips or surface cracks only affect the outer layer of the windshield, so it can be mended before it gets any worse — and requires more time and money to fix.
8. I have many different quotes. Why is there such a big difference in price?Don’t be fooled by these price wars. We always quote on original equipment glass and take into account federal and factory standards into labor prices. 9. I’ve had a few claims in the past. Will my insurance rates go up if I get it replaced?Auto glass is covered under your comprehensive policy. This means a claim that is not the policyholder’s fault. Your insurance rates should not increase due to auto glass replacement. To be sure, however, check your policy or call your agent. _
